Who's in the driver's seat |

Mini Sprint racing is quickly becoming one of
the most popular forms of motorsport in the United States, Canada and even
Australia and New Zealand. It provides all the close wheel-to-wheel
racing action of midgets and sprint cars, for a fraction of the cost.
This page is dedicated to promoting the sport of mini sprint racing.

Waynesfield After a first week
rainout at Waynesfield Motorsports Park, clear skies brought the
racers to this Ohio clay oval on Saturday April 26th. Track owners
Greg and Tammy Shobe were praised all night long for the excellent job
done by the track prep crew. The racing surface was smooth, tacky, and
super fast.
Throughout the night the races were run in a very timely fashion.
After the three classes of cars completed their heat race
portion of the night, a 20 minute intermission was taken so that the
track crew could put the finishing touch on the racing surface before
the start of the feature events. The 600cc mini-sprints were the first
of the three classes of cars to take to the track for their Amain
feature. As the racing began it looked to be a battle for the win
between newcomer #23 Devon Dobie and veteran #26 Rod Henning. These
two cars quickly set a fast pace to lead the race. Henning was finally
able to gain the lead away from Dobie and pulled out to a three car
length advantage. With only a few laps left in this feature, Hennings
motor erupted with a giant cloud of smoke. The veteran mini-sprint
driver did an excellent job of quickly getting his smoking car to the
inside of the track and out of the way of the rest of the cars. The
restart left #18 Todd Keen with only a couple of laps left to try to
get by leader Devon Dobie. In the end, the 15 year old Dobie proved
too strong to handle and went on to win his 1st ever mini-sprint
feature at Waynesfield Motorsports Park.

Headed to Florida - Please Read -
One of the racers headed to the Mini Sprint races in Florida in
February informed us that if your truck and hauler(trailer) exceed
65 feet in length that a permit is required in the State of
Florida. It apparently takes a little while to get this because it
needs to be mailed to you. There is a website to check for an
application www.fdotmaint.com
. He said be sure to get a Blanket Application and
indicate "hauling race cars" not just hauling cars.

Who's In
the Driver's Seat?

One of the neatest things about
mini-sprints, is that you never know who you are going to find in the
driver's seat. It could be the next up and coming star, a star from
open wheel's past or even a weekend warrior. The purpose of this
portion of the page is to tell a little bit about some of the guys and
gals that race mini sprints. Stay tuned we hope to begin posting
driver stories in the next few weeks. If you're an upright mini
sprint driver that would like to be featured in the HOT SEAT, e-mail us at
