Product Feature: Viper Pipes Muffler Clamps

One of the more popular items that we carry to the track each week to support our customers is the muffler.  Unfortunately the need for a muffler seldom arises because of fatigue or failure, but more often than not because it falls off and is destroyed.  It makes for an expensive evening since mufflers can cost anywhere from a $150-$250.  The worst part is that the culprit is generally the clamp used to hold the muffler on is simply not up to the task.

Stroll the pits at most races and you are likely to find the common worm gear hose clamp being utilized to hold mufflers and collectors in place.  This is understandable since many manufacturers include worm gear hose clamps with their product.  As the name states, a hose clamp is intended to hold secure or fasten a hose in place—not a five to eight pound muffler that is being constantly jarred by a rugged racing surface.  While they may get the job done for a period of time, they fatigue, loose their clamping pressure and eventually break.

These barrel band clamps are specially manufactured for the task of securing exhaust systems.  They are manufactured from aerospace grade stainless steel and deliver greater durability and clamping power.

The right clamp for the job is a properly fitting barrel band clamp.  Barrel band clamps have been the standard among the motorcycle industries leading performance aftermarket exhaust manufacturers.  Viper pipes sells the highest quality barrel band clamps on the market.  They are constructed of stainless steel and feature zinc plated components.  They are produced in the United States and made to work on all 2 inch muffler pipes like those used in mini sprints, modified midgets, tq midgets, dwarf cars, modified-lites and others.  They are recommended for use at slip joints in the exhaust system, including muffler and collector slip on points.  They come either individually or in an economical two pack.
