The 2009 season rolled around and Stewart was ready for his quest
for a championship. He had a well sorted car and a fresh engine.
Stewart knew that a big part of racing for the championship would
be keeping his cool and making sure that the care went back in the
trailer each night.
While Stewart will be back to defend his championship in 2010, he
hopes to continue forward momentum and definitely has his eyes on
a sprint car ride. Although open wheel cars on the dirt are
definitely Beau’s favorite, he also would enjoy the opportunity to
run pavement and even has a strong desire to do a little road
racing. Stewart’s aspirations run beyond just driving, noting
that he thinks it would be really cool to spend a year traveling
with a World of Outlaws team.
A college freshman, Stewart has enrolled at University of Northern
Ohio in their performance motorsports program. Originally he was
torn between his other passion—the outdoors and even made a trip
to check out Hocking Tech where he was considering pursuing a
degree in forestry. In the end his love of auto racing won out
and he now finds himself spending four days a week in studies at
the University of Northern Ohio. |

He
commented that he was really enjoying the school which includes an
equal split between classroom learning and shop time. One added
benefit of attending UNOH is that he has renewed a friendship with
Mike Streicher of Hawk Chassis. Stewart ran Hawk quarter midgets for
several years.
Even
though Stewart’s sport is centered around speed, his other hobbies of
hunting and fishing provide the time to relax. The family home is in
a rural community and Stewart is thankful that he can walk right out
his back door and have a woods to hunt in and a pond to fish in.
Stewart landed his first deer when he was around eleven years old and
has continued to hunt ever since. Even though his first deer was
scored with a gun, he says that he really enjoys using his Bow much
more.
At first glance
Stewart might strike you as being a little bit shy and allouf.
However, if you spend a few minutes talking with him you’ll find a
driven young man with his own ideas and a passion for success. The
2010 A.M.S.A. represented quite an achievement, but in talking to him
you quickly get the sense that it is just one peak in his quest for
the summit. Best of luck to Beau Stewart and his family during the
2010 racing season. |
