Mini Sprint Racers Set for Early Start in 2009

Mini sprint racers are set for their earliest start in several years as they are less than a week away from the American Mini Sprint Association (A.M.S.A.) opener at Twin Cities Raceway Park on April the 4th.  Mini sprint front man Jerry Tague says that the group is ready to things kicked off for what promises to be one of the best schedules in many years.

While the struggling economy has everyone holding their breath, the mini sprint community is guardedly optimistic about car counts for the upcoming season.  Tague commented, “If interest during the off season is any indication, coupled with the reports I am getting back from the parts suppliers, I think we could see a pretty good field of cars.  We’ve worked hard to make our form of racing as economical as possible.  We feel that both purchase and operating costs are still reasonable in-line and that our schedule is one that keeps travel to a minimum.”

The 2009 American Mini Sprint Association schedule features some 23 races at tracks that are all located within a few short hours of each other, with the majority of the races taking place at famed Lawrenceburg Speedway.  In addition to Twin Cities Raceway Park, Thunder Valley Speedway and Osgood, the group is proud to also have races at Moler Raceway Park and Gas City for the upcoming season.  Another positive for the 2009 season is the groups continued strong affiliation with the Midwest’s top touring divisions.  The 2009 schedule features races with USAC sprints and midgets, The World of Outlaws and the Midwest Sprint Car Series.  “A schedule that provides our drivers exposure to the upper echelons of open wheel racing is very important.  Although our class of racing is an excellent place for the weekend warrior, it is also a training ground for the midget and sprint car stars of tomorrow.  I am so thankful to the promoters for placing both our drivers and the sport of mini sprint racing in a position to be exposed to so many people”, Tague went on to comment.

The month of April has the group off to a fast start with three races scheduled during the month including the opener at Twin Cities, a Friday evening race at Moler Raceway Park and racing at Lawrenceburg Speedway with the USAC sprints.  However Tague reminds interested parties that it is still not to late to get involved.  “We’ve just added a new classified section to our website that has a few good used cars available and I know that Speed Partz also has a few used race ready cars sitting on their showroom floor.”  If you’re interested in getting involved in mini sprint racing, visit www.americanminisprints.com.
