AMSA - Lawrenceburg Speedway - May 9th, 2009

Beau Stewart was tired of finishing second. Last week, Stewart was so close to winning but came up just short behind Rod Henning. Would Stewart get his redemption? The AMSA Mini-sprints had 27 cars on hand at Lawrenceburg. Rod Henning, Beau Stewart, and Scott Fasse were heat race winners. Ian Beveridge won the B-main. The feature’s story would be a tale of two stories: Would Rod “Hot Rod” Henning win his third in a row? Would Beau Stewart finally be able to get around Henning and win a feature? Drew Pollock was trying to write his own story and he took the lead on the opening lap. On Lap 4 it looked as though Henning was going for #3. He passed Pollock and had little trouble keeping the others behind him. This was no surprise as Henning has never had trouble keeping his competitors behind him. As laps were winding down, Beau Stewart was not letting Henning get too far out of sight. Every lap he seemed to get a little bit closer to Henning, even making slight contact with Henning a couple different times. The White flag waved, and Stewart again drove low in turns 1 and 2 to get underneath Henning but Henning was able to lead down the backstretch. Into turn 3 Stewart drove hard underneath Henning and was able to get alongside and beat Henning to the line by a matter of feet! Stewart got what he was
looking for last week, and is now set to give Henning a run for his money in the AMSA
Mini-sprints. Henning finished second followed by Jeff Barnhart, Dustin Hueston and
David Dorsett. The AMSA Mini-sprints return to the Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday
