MMSA - Taylor and Horton capture Montpelier feature wins September 6th

28 cars signed into the flat ¼ mile Montpelier Speedway September 6th. First on hand was the make-up feature for the rained-out event from August 9th. Lynn Ambrose would jump out to an early lead from his pole starting position. Lap 9 saw Jimmy Devuono get upside down in turn 4. He was unhurt, but unable to continue for the remainder of the night. On the restart, Ambrose got a good jump on second running Ricky Taylor and would begin to stretch his lead. Disaster struck for Ambrose on lap 15 as he pulled to the infield with a blown engine. This would allow Ricky Taylor to inherit the lead and he would hold off a hard charge from brothers Scott and Andy Bradley to take his first Midwest Mini Sprint feature win. Following Taylor to the line were Andy Bradley, Scott Bradley, Hard Charger Derek Campbell, and Kenny Burr rounding out the top 5.

Heat races would line up for the second event of the night, with Austin Archdale, Ricky Taylor, and Hud Horton taking victories. Kevin Roberts Sr. would take the B-main.

Ricky Taylor would jump out to an early lead in the main, followed closely by Hud Horton and Jeff Barnhart. Taylor would lead the first 8 laps, going for the sweep of the evening. This was short lived though, as Horton would get passed Taylor. Shortly after, Taylor would spin, allowing Barnhart to inherit second. Horton and Barnhart would then battle for the lead, With Horton not giving up the bottom grove, holding off Barnhart on numerous restarts. Horton would hold Barnhart off, taking his 4th Midwest Mini Sprint feature win. Following Horton to the line were Jeff Barnhart, Austin Archdale, Ryan Broughton, earning the hard charger award after a furious charge from 17th position, and Derek Campbell rounding out the top 5. Jarrod Delong and Sam Ashworth would take the 600cc bonuses.
