The MMSA rolled into the Thunder Valley Raceway in Salem, Indiana
Friday night19 cars signed in, and heat race wins went to Ryan Broughton,
Justin Roberts, and Andy Bradley. Ryan Broughton and Jeff Barnhart brought
the cars to the green in the feature. Broughton had a good start and led
the field into turn one, with Barnhart and Justin Roberts in tow. On lap
7, Barnhart would pull pit side after losing a chain, with Broughton
pulling to a huge lead with Roberts holding off brothers Scott and Andy
Bradley in an excellent battle at times going three-wide. The caution
would come out on lap 12 for a spinning Kenny Burr, erasing a half lap
lead for Broughton. On the caution disaster would strike for the leader as
a rock wedged under his throttle negating him to the tail. On the restart
the Bradley brothers made short work of Roberts taking first and second.
Lap 17 saw a red for Kevin Roberts Jr. who turned his car over in turn 2.
He was not injured but unable to continue. On the restart Scott Bradley
would lead followed by brother Andy and Justin Roberts continued his fine
run in 3rd. All eyes though were on Ryan Broughton who had already come
back to fifth. Broughton made his way from fifth to third on the restart,
but ran out of time as Andy Bradley took the checkers, followed by brother
Scott, Broughton, Justin Roberts, and Jack Sandall. The hard charger award
went to Collin Ambrose from 16th to 9th. There was some controversy over a
late restart. The track made no call but MMSA officials decided to move
Justin Roberts to 3rd and Ryan Broughton to 4th.
